For decades, youth prevention messages relied on the "Just Say No" mantra. Today’s youth demand a different approach. The BETTER WITHOUT IT® campaign (@betterwithout.it) answers this call by shifting the focus from fear to empowerment, encouraging Gen Z (ages 13–25) to say YES to a life that is better without substances.
Rooted in the principles of positive youth development, this digital-first initiative meets young people in their own spaces with objective information about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, but also a critical message of empowerment. The campaign helps teens and young adults to understand that their minds, bodies, relationships, and future are already at their best without drugs, alcohol, or nicotine.
Originally launched in Central Florida, BETTER WITHOUT IT® has successfully scaled into a high-impact regional movement. Through a landmark partnership with the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission, the Office of the Attorney General, and three major state universities, the campaign is now actively safeguarding the futures of youth across the State of Kentucky.
